PSA s CHENNAI INTERNATIONAL TERMINALS WINS CONTAINER HANDLING TERMINAL OF THE YEAR AWARD AT SOUTH EAST CARGO & LOGISTICS AWARDS FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Steady progress in coastal & port connectivity roads component of Bharatmala Pariyojana .

New Delhi June 25.

Under the coastal and port connectivity roads component of the Bharat Mala pariyojana phase- I programme five road projects with total length of about 163 km and total cost  as Rs. 2.469 crore (approx.) have been awarded till march 2019 in the entire country .progress of all the projects in monitored electronically for ensuring completion as per schedule .

This information was given by the union minister forroad transport and high ways Mr. Nitin Gatkari in a written reply in parliament on Monday.

The Bhatmala Pariyojna phase - I was approved at an estimated outlay of Rs. 5,35,000 crore.. A total of 24.800 km of national highways have been  considered in phase - I as well as 10.000 km residual road works under NHDP under this program the ministry of road Transport and highways has identified stretches fore development of about 9,000 km length of economic corridors about 6.000 km length if inter corridor and feeder roads. about 5.000 km length of national corridors efficiency improvements about  2.000 km  length of border and international connectivity roads  about 2.000 km length of coastal and port connectivity roads and about 800 km length of expressways.

CAUTION URGED ON PHASING OUT EXPORT SUBSIDIES.
six point agenda suggested for making Indian exports competitive.

After commerce and industry Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal talked about phasing out export subsidies and asking the trade not to be dependent on them the chairman trade promotion council of India (TPCI) Mr. Mohit sigla has said the governments needs  to take a gradual and cautious  view on this matter as the buyers also negotiated and demanded some part of the subsidy .
While congratulating the Minister  for setting the bail rolling by immediately convening the board of trade and council of trade promotion and development meeting .  Mr. Singla  also suggested a six - point agenda which may be strategized for making Indian exports competitive.
To begin with there is a need to identify a newq product basket that can easily find markets compared to our global competitors as India has an inherent  advantage. The emerging champion sectors could be electrical furniture and mattress and processed food. for  example processed food alone has huge scope after value addition .
Then comes external outreach.and promotion of Indian products to new and emerging markets. India could utilize 80 trade promotion offices working on already accepted global norms for promotion of various products and brands from the country .
The third is creating in a national portal for global trade inquires to be run/ managed by respective export promotion councils which could handle queries on day to day basis.
Fourth could be in concentivisation  above basic target encourage the performers by linking it with performance and target, be it EPC s or nany other body or organisation.
The fifth is the availability of credit for the industry both in terms of intermsdiary and fineshed goods for exports .
Finally reducing the cost and time of port clearance for the goods for export is very important . port charges in India should be reduced as it makes Indian exports  less competitive compared to the rest of the world . Number of days for port clearance and logistics cost per  km of road transport should be also be brought down it was suggested as per a release.

New Delhi June 11 Mr Piyush Goyal the commerce and industry Minister has taken a number of major decisions to boost exports and industrial growth.The work on some of these decitions.ranging from fast tracking anti dumping investigations into goods in the micro small and medium enterprises (MSME)category to initiating research on reducing import dependence will begin pretty soon says a report .

Most of the decision received the Ministers nod after he held a 10 hours meeting with export promotion councils industry bodies and officials from the center  and state governments .
In of the major decisions the government has decided to initiate an investigation in to the top 50 tariff lines, constituting  60 per cent of India s importers to find ways to reduce import dependence
Besides officials have been asked to work with  state governments to identify 50 manufacturing  clusters across the country . priority will be given to micro , small and medium enterprises and most clusters will have a mix of various industries  catering to a complete value chain in a particuler geography.

it is learnt many of these clusters will focus on import substitution  especially for goods in the engineering textiles and electronics sectors .

The department for promotion of industry and internal Trade (DPIIT) has been asked to work with industry bodies to organize a national investor promotion event in the next six to nine months while such investment sum mits have mostly focused  on foreign investors this sum mit would give equal importance to domestic investors reports said .

export credit agencies have been directed to shift focus from subsidies to felicitating cheaper availability of loan in foreign currencies to exporters by June 30 2019 .

Similarly both export credit Guarantee corporation of India (ECGC) and exim bank have been told to speedily raise their loan dis bursals to exporters ECGC will enable a credit guarantee  to cover foreign currency lending to MSME while the exim bank will provide refinance in foreign currency to commercial banks to support all exporters . MSME continue to remain a key focus for Mr goyal who has also directed ECGC to extend export factoring for MSME said the export.

Major ports continue volume growth in new fiscal.

Higher demand for coal petroleum oil and lubricants have enabled the 12 major ports to begin the new fiscal on a positive note by registering a 5.65 per cent increase in cargo handling to 60.07 million tonnes (mt) in April 2019 as against the 56.86 mt re corded in the same month of the previous year .

as per Indian ports Association (IPA) figures deendayal port thandled the highest traffic volume at 11.30 mt in April 2019 followed by paradip port at 9.55 at. JNPT at 5.99mt. Visakhapatnam port at 5.69 mt and Mumbai port at 5.mt . kolkata port handled total 4.95 mt.of cargo while chennai port handled 3.94 mt.

The Major ports had handled 2.90 per cent more cargo year-on-year, at 6.99.04 mt. in 20198-19 . primarily propelled by increased traffic of coal . fertilizers and container, said a report.

PUBLIC NOTICE NO. 123/2018 ISSUED BY COMMISSIONER OF CUSTOMS (NS-1) MUMBAI ZONE -II

Attention of all the importers customs brokers & Officers under the jurisdiction of JNCH Mumbai customs zone -Ii is invited towards public Notice no. 162/2017 dated 29.12.2017 as amended  by public notice no. 054/2018 dated 31.03.2018 on the subject of introduction of e sanchit at JNCH and the issue of requirement of hard copy of documents fro the registration and out of charge in DPD/ RMS facilitation centers/ cfs.

it has been observed that customs brokers are still producing docket of B/E along with other supporting import documents for registration and out of charge and submitting this docket to customs after obtaining out of charge this defeats the very purpose of introducing the e sanjit facility for moving towards a less paper environment .

after implementation of e sanchit all the said import documents   forming part of the docket are required to the upload in PDF format using  e sanchit application ai ICEGATE.

In view of the above till further directions it has been decided that the customs officials in DPD/RMS facilitation center and cfs under JNCH should follow e sanchit procedure stated in the public notice no. 162/2017 dated 29.12.2017 and to register bill of entries on presentation  of only hard copy examination order and give out of charge after scrutiny and check off upload documents like county of origin certificate etc. are required to be presented in original for verification  and / or debiting . trade should present hard copies at the time of examination of the goods at  CFS or registration at RMS  facilitation center for obtaining out of charge . the trade must upload digitally all the documents , including those that has to be presented in original hard copy. further for supporting documents . where  a debit or quantity/ value is required to be made on the hard copy for every subsequent bill of entry filed for import, the latest debit sheet to be uploaded . the practice of submitting hard/ paper copies of documents constituting the docket shall be dis continued with immediate effect.

In case of any difficulties the specific issue may be brought in the notice of deputy / Assistant  Commissioner in charge of DPD cell NS-III .

Pm Dedicates Pipavav Shipyard to the nation

Among the others who graces the occasion were Mr. G.K. Vasan ,Union Minister for shipping Secretary and Mr. Nikhil Gandhi , Chairman of Piipavav shipyard Ltd and promoter of SKIL Infrastructure ( Whose Project the shipyard is)
After the launch , Dr Singh Congratulated Mr. Nikhil Gandhi and the management of pipavav shipyard for this "Massive contribution " to nation -building and expressed his appreciation of their commitment to innovation , farsighted vision , and commitment to do things the best possible way.

He noted that the shipyard was one of the most modern in the country , having one of largest dry dock and wet dock facilities in the world, with which can be used for constructing many types of vessels. " I hope this modern facility will set new benchmarks in quality and effciency for our country ," he underscored .

The Prime Minister pointed out that for India to be a major trading nation , shipping,shipbuilding and management of ports assume great importane in development planning.
The Development of maritime infrastructure - ports , shipbuilding and shipping , including inland water transport , is therefore of critical importance to the progress of our economy . This sector also provides substantial employment in the organized sector , and acts as catalyst for rapid development of the hinterland as well," he pointed out.

Outlining the steps taken to give a boost to the maritime sector , he highlighted, " our government has taken many steps to develop this sector , The National Maritime Development Programme (NMDP) envisages investment of more then Rs. 1 Lakhs crore. We have recently set up the Indian Maritime university . We Have Also Welcomes private sector participation in major Ports , to access mch-needed funds and technical and managerial expertise.

I hope the framework that has been developed will hasten the construction of new ports, and will also improve the maintenance of existing ports and harbours. In addition, measures are being undertaken to reduce connectivity constraints being faced by our ports," he emphasized.

Developments in the ship building industry could have a multiplier effect and economic out put as also in therms of their contribution to the generation of employment.

The union government had, therefore,been supporting the setting up of ship yards, he emphasised.

I understand the national manufacturing Competitiveness is working with the ministry of shipping to explore fresh ways to enable faster growth of this dynamic sector. in addition, we intended to take measures to greatly expand in land water transport, he discussed.

Located adjacent to port Pepavav,the ship yard is an integrated ship building facility which is reportedly the largest in india and among the largest in Asia, Spread over an agree gate area of 198.92 hectares ( apporx 491.53 Acres)
